A brand for the people protecting the water.

The Moose Jaw River Watershed Stewards do quiet, essential work. We gave them a brand — and a website — that finally looked as serious as the cause. The numbers followed.

The people behind the river

Behind every healthy river there are people most of us never meet — testing water, pulling invasive weeds, writing grants, showing up. The Moose Jaw River Watershed Stewards are those people: a small non-profit looking after the water this whole region depends on.

The trouble with quiet good work

Quiet, essential work has a downside — it's easy to overlook. The Stewards had the mission and the members, but their presence didn't carry the weight the cause deserved. Harder to recruit, harder to fundraise, harder to be taken as seriously as the work actually is.

This one's close to our heart, too. The Stewards were one of our very first big projects, back in 2019. They took a chance on us — and we've never forgotten it.

A brand worthy of the cause

We rebuilt the brand from the ground up. A pelican on the cattails for a mark — local, calm, unmistakably theirs. A palette pulled straight from the river. A voice that's hopeful without ever getting preachy.

Telling the why, simply

Most people don't know what a “watershed” even is, let alone why it matters. So we turned the why into something you could actually follow — the water you drink, the wildlife you see, the farmers you rely on — and ended it with an easy next step: partner, volunteer, become a member.

Then the numbers moved

Here's the part we're proudest of. In the years after the rebrand, membership revenue climbed steadily — and brand-new income started showing up: fundraising, and sales of goods and services, lines that simply weren't there before.

These aren't our numbers to spin. They're public record, straight from the Canada Revenue Agency's non-profit filings.

Bar chart: Moose Jaw River Watershed Stewards revenue increasing over five fiscal years

Still standing

mjriver.ca is still their home today, and the Stewards are still at it — testing, restoring, teaching, protecting the water for whoever comes next.

They were one of the first to trust us with something this big. Watching what they've built since is exactly why we do this.
